In 2013 a major renovation of a crumbling 1920 s Guest House (the Conti) was undertaken with a highly professional team lead by Tye and Daniel (Murphy James Builders).

The challenges of the renovation required skill, innovative solutions, eye for detail, working with the combination of recycled materials and new structure to provide a new era for this magnificent 12 bedroomed historic house.

Work conditions were challenging and Tye and Daniel remained focused, collaborative, extremely pleasant and approachable and aligned with all requirements of new era building code/planning and building permits. The initial project took 7 months including- structural timbers, walls, ceilings, doors (including recycled), fixtures, fittings, windows and new decks.

At a later date we commissioned Murphy/James to rebuild our personal miners' cottage and undertake further works on the original Guest House including the framework for our Turkish steam room.

They are excellent builders and great personalities too – we cannot thank them enough.
